Mindfulness is the ability to be fully present in a particular moment. It means increasing awareness of your moment- to- moment thoughts, emotions, body sensations, and surrounding environment without judgement or trying to change it. Mindfulness also involves acceptance.
Research has shown numerous benefits to teaching the mind to be present. Mindful meditation actually changes the shape of our brains and its neuropathways. Benefits include the following: decreased stress, frustration, and sadness; increased levels of happiness, patience, and acceptance; increased compassion for self and others; physical health benefits and overall wellbeing; increased ability for focus and concentration.
