Growing With Intention: The Next Chapter of Create PAUSE Counselling & Wellness

When Create PAUSE Counselling & Wellness began, the vision was relatively simple: to create a space where people could slow down, feel understood, and find support when life felt heavy while offering evidence-based care to the St. Thomas/Elgin community.

Over time, that vision has continued to grow.

Not simply in the number of people reaching out for counselling, but in what I have come to believe a counselling and wellness practice can be.

Create PAUSE Counselling & Wellness has always been about more than an appointment.

It is about creating space to pause when everything feels overwhelming.

To develop insight into ourselves, our patterns, and what we need.

To practice acceptance without giving up on change.

And to make room for growth in ways that feel meaningful, sustainable, and uniquely our own.

Now, Create PAUSE Counselling & Wellness is entering another season of growth.

Growing the Team, Without Losing What Matters

As more individuals, youth, young adults, parents, and families have reached out for support, it has become increasingly clear that Create PAUSE Counselling & Wellness cannot — and perhaps was never meant to — remain a one-person practice.

There are so many different reasons people seek therapy.

And there is no single therapist, approach, or personality that will be the right fit for everyone.

Growing our team gives us the opportunity to offer more options while still holding onto the values that have shaped Create PAUSE Counselling & Wellness from the beginning.

That means I am being intentional about who joins this practice.

Clinical training matters.

Experience matters.

But so does how someone makes people feel.

I want our clinicians to be people who are warm, curious, compassionate, and genuine.

People who understand that good therapy is not about having all the answers.

It is about creating enough safety and connection for someone to begin discovering their own.

A Different Kind of Growth

There can be a tendency in business to think about growth in terms of more.

More clients.

More clinicians.

More services.

More locations.

And while some of those things may certainly be part of Create PAUSE Counselling & Wellness' future, I want our growth to be measured differently.

I want us to ask:

  • Are we offering care that feels thoughtful and human?
  • Are people able to find the right support for what they are going through?
  • Do our clinicians feel supported to do meaningful work?
  • Are we contributing something valuable to the communities we are part of?

And perhaps most importantly:

  • Does what we are building still feel like Create PAUSE Counselling & Wellness?

Growth should not require losing the things that made something meaningful in the first place.

My hope is that it allows us to deepen them.

Expanding What Support Can Look Like

As the team grows, so will the ways people can access support.

That may mean having clinicians with different areas of expertise.

It may mean more options for virtual counselling, community-based sessions in London, St. Thomas, and surrounding areas, and Walk & Talk Therapy.

It will also allow Create PAUSE Counselling & Wellness to continue developing resources and experiences that reach beyond traditional therapy — including our Learning Hub, skills-based resources, groups, workshops, and nature- and wellness-focused experiences.

Because sometimes people need therapy.

Sometimes they need practical tools.

Sometimes they need community.

And sometimes they simply need somewhere to begin.

I want Create PAUSE Counselling & Wellness to become a place where there are multiple doorways into support.

The Values We Are Bringing With Us

As Create PAUSE Counselling & Wellness grows, there are some things I hope never change.

Authenticity.
People should be able to show up as they are — clients and clinicians alike.

Compassion and presence.
Behind every referral, email, appointment, or question is a person who may be carrying more than we can see.

Integrity.
Growth should never come at the expense of thoughtful, ethical, high-quality care.

Wisdom and growth.
We will remain curious, continue learning, and allow the practice to evolve as we do.

Community and connection.
Healing does not happen in isolation. I want Create PAUSE Counselling & Wellness to continue becoming more connected to the people, organizations, and communities around us.

These values will guide not only the care we provide, but also the team we build.

What Comes Next

Over the coming months, we will be introducing some new faces and sharing more about the unique experience, interests, and approaches they bring to the practice.

There are also some new services and ideas quietly taking shape behind the scenes.

Some are natural extensions of the counselling work we already do.

Others stretch the idea of wellness a little further.

All of them come back to the same belief that started Create PAUSE Counselling & Wellness:

Healing often begins when we feel safe enough to pause.

I am incredibly excited about this next chapter.

Not because I want Create PAUSE Counselling & Wellness to become the biggest practice.

But because I believe it can become an increasingly thoughtful, connected, and meaningful place for people to find support.

And I am looking forward to seeing what we build next.
